Canucks Alumni Brings Energy to Community Events

Alumni Tee Off for Two Great Causes
September was a big month for the Canucks Alumni as we hit the fairways in support of two cornerstone community events.
A great turnout of Alumni members laced up their golf shoes for the annual Melanoma Canada Golf & Grill on September 4th at Tsawwassen Springs, raising vital funds and awareness in the fight against melanoma right here in BC. This tournament, hosted by long-time Canucks equipment training staff member Brian (Red) Hamilton, saw Alumni Members Arthur Griffiths, Dave Babych, John Grisdale, Henrik Sedin, Daniel Sedin, and Executive Director Robin Wyss in attendance. The apres golf reception was MC’d by Associate Member Joey Kenward.
Just a few days later, the Alumni were back on the links at the storied Jake Milford Charity Invitational at Northview Golf Club, a tradition that not only celebrates the legacy of one of the most respected figures in the game but also contributes in a huge way to both the Canucks for Kids Fund and Canucks Alumni Foundation.
The Jake Milford tournament showcased a strong presence of Alumni personnel that included Richard Brodeur, Corey Hirsch, Dennis Kearns, Gerry Sillers, Kirk McLean, Arthur Griffiths, Darcy Rota, Matt Cooke, Dave Babych, Ed Hatoum, Garry Monahan, Gerry O’Flaherty, John Grisdale, Dennis Ververgaert, Cliff Ronning, Aaron Volpatti and Dave Tomlinson.
Both tournaments are reminders of the same spirit that drives the Canucks on the ice: teamwork, determination and the community where players, fans and corporate partners come together proving once again that hockey is more than just about the game itself.
White Spot Contest Winner Meets Darcy Rota
The Canucks Alumni were also thrilled to team up with White Spot to give contest winners a truly unforgettable experience. Darcy Rota joined long-time Canucks fan Lexie Hope at the White Spot restaurant in Kitsilano, where he shared stories from his playing days, posed for photos and helped create lasting memories.
“Meeting Canucks fans in this way is so special,” said Rota. “The support we’ve received over the years means a lot, and it’s always a pleasure to sit down, share stories, and connect with people who love the game as much as we do.”
These partnerships allow us to continue building connections, celebrating the Canucks Alumni’s legacy, and giving back to the fans who have supported us every step of the way.
Canucks Home Opener
Alumni Member Nathan Lafayette joined Canucks fans on the concourse at Rogers Arena on Opening Night, signing autographs, posing for photos, and celebrating the start of a new season.
The Alumni were also featured in the Canucks for Kids Fund’s Community Corner, where we promoted the upcoming Annual Alumni Luncheon on November 20th at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, and hosted a contest for fans to win two tickets to the event.
A big thank you to the Vancouver Canucks and the Canucks for Kids Fund for inviting the Alumni to be part of Community Corner and for their continued support of Alumni initiatives.
