2025 Canucks Alumni Luncheon Celebrates Canada’s Proud Hockey Heritage

Nearly 500 guests gathered at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver for an unforgettable afternoon on November 20, 2025 at the annual Canucks Alumni Luncheon, presented by Woola.

It brought together former players from every decade alongside Vancouver’s business community, loyal supporters and hockey fans for a celebration rooted in pride, connection and Canadian hockey history.

The spotlight shone on a unique and meaningful theme: honouring Canucks Alumni who have represented Team Canada on the world stage. From Olympic tournaments toWorld Championships to World Juniors and beyond, these athletes have worn the maple leaf with distinction and the luncheon paid tribute to their contributions both athome and abroad.

The energy in the room was one of camaraderie, nostalgia and deep appreciation for the shared experiences that bind our hockey community together.

“It’s incredibly inspiring to see so many alumni come together for such a meaningful event,” said Bob Murray, President of the Vancouver Canucks Alumni Association. “It reminds us of the powerful connections we share across generations, across teams and across our community.

A true highlight of the afternoon was the annual Hot Stove segment hosted by BC Sports Hall of Famer and long-time tv and radio broadcaster Don Taylor. The panel featured an all-star lineup of Trevor Linden, Garth Butcher, Dan Hamhuis and Meghan Agosta.

Each brought a unique perspective from their time representing Canada internationally. Their candid stories, ranging from behind-the-scenes moments to career-defining highlights, offered guests an intimate and often humorous glimpse into what it truly means to compete on the global stage.

Whether recalling the intensity of tournament play or the profound pride of wearing the Team Canada jersey, their reflections captivated and inspired the room. The theme was introduced by another unique video presentation by the Alumni’s Mike Hall who managed to collect historical context of the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and Russia, the 1961 Trail Smoke Eaters winning the World Championship, the 1955 Penticton Vees wrestling back our game from the emerging Soviets and even the 1939 Trial Smoke Eaters winning the World championship.

Another standout feature was a rare and beautifully curated collection from Pat Quinn’s personal home, showcased exclusively for the attending guests. This remarkable display included memorabilia from every international tournament he coached or managed. Guests were especially moved as they viewed his medals, uniforms, Team Canada jackets and an extraordinary array of championship rings, each piece lovingly highlighted and contextualized in person by his daughter Kalli.

“My Dad poured his heart into every Team Canada team he led. Coaching and managing on the international stage was one of the great honours of his life and our family carried those memories with immense pride,” said Kalli Quinn, an active Alumni member. “Being able to share many of his personal Team Canada pieces including his medals, jackets, rings and more was incredibly special. It was a highlight not just for the guests, but for me as well. I miss him every day and I know he would have been so proud to see how warmly his legacy continues to be celebrated.”

The 2025 Alumni Luncheon continued its longstanding tradition of giving back. Guests enthusiastically participated in the fund-a-need, raising vital support for two important causes: Canuck Place Children’s Hospice and the Canucks Alumni Scholarship Program. Their generosity will help ensure meaningful care for families across British Columbia and create opportunities for young athletes pursuing post-secondary education.

The gathering was also huge success thanks to several new and returning Alumni corporate partners. “We are deeply grateful to Woola for their leadership as presenting sponsor” said Arthur Griffiths, Chairman of the Vancouver Canucks Alumni Foundation. “Their commitment, along with the generosity of all our many sponsors and partnersmade this special afternoon possible and helped extend the impact of our work well beyond the room.”

The event was truly a heartfelt celebration of legacy, community and the enduring spirit of Canadian hockey. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us for this special day and we can’t wait to see everyone again next year.
